Leasehold Agreements – Pubs UK

Pubs for sale by Lease can be short or long term.

Typically 3-5 years is termed as a tenancy and above 5 years is a lease and there are some important additions to responsibilities of both parties for both types of agreements.

Full repairing leases for inside and outside the premises is not uncommon for a pub lease of 10-15 years.

A tenancy of 3-5 years will have repairing for inside only usually.

A lease can be sold on if you wish to sell and tenancies are usually not offered for sale according to the terms of agreement with the pubco.

Independent pubs free of tie can also be leased and these are in more demand.

We will examine each type of lease in the following pages.
