Freehold Pub UK
Freeholds offer the most profitable way to run your own pub, according to the publican “A good freehouse trade can bring you a return on your investment of between 10 and 20 per cent, which means that you will be in competition for any half decent pub with serious entrepreneurs and corporate operators with plenty of cash”
Therein lies the problem that whenever a great property comes up there is a higher chance of interest from other potential buyers. However with the current economy there is a higher amount of pubs being sold and also in numbers by large pub groups like punch in order to reduce their debts.
There are some great deals around and the market may continue to offer value for some time. It was recently reported that 52 pubs are closing down in the UK every week, that offers some great options to buy if you have the cash or the ability to borrow.
Comments and discussion are welcome, as usual if anyone (an agent or pubco etc) would like to discuss the pros and cons in a recorded interview we would love to do so.
